For the price i paid there is more freezer space in this chest than any other on Amazon. i realize that i probably got a sale price but still...$250 including delivery for 8.8 cu Ft is AMAZING! it fits perfectly in the space i have and holds more than my side by side fridge's freezer in my kitchen. i would recommend this to anyone in need of a deep freeze.

I got one of these freezers in 2006 and I have used it almost continuously since then. I have not had any problems with mine. Because this unit opens on the top, you don't lose so much of the coldness when you open it. I selected this unit particularly because of its low overall power consumption which is important when my household is running from auxiliary power (off-grid).




There are no coils on the inside of the freezer, where the food goes, so it's easier to keep clean and frost-free, as well as to remove things that may have been stored in there for awhile.

I was going to purchase a 3.5 cubit feet freezer, but when I saw this one on sale on Amazon, I decided to go with its bigger size, 5 cubit feet. It's a perfect size. The 3.5 size would have been tiny. This freezer is practically silent and weighs almost nothing. It keeps everything frozen at the minimum recommended level. And it's one of the few freezers available with Energy Star rating, and Amazon offered it with free shipping.
